Why Play 4 on 4 Cross Ice?
There are a variety of reasons to get involved in cross ice games! While cross ice is a fun way to get on the ice in the summer, there are numerous developmental advantages to playing cross ice games:

Game Format and Structure
- Gameplay: During games, 4 skaters + 1 goalie will be on the ice for each team. If the goalie is absent, the Shooter Tutor will be used.
- Game Length: All games will be 60 minutes long. We will have a water break halfway through.
- Rink Setup: All games will be played "cross-ice", using dividers (pads) to mark the boundaries for each game.
- Jerseys and Color: Each player will be responsible for bringing their own jersey. Teams will be assigned "light" or "dark" prior to the game.
- Faceoffs: Faceoffs will only occur at the start of each half.
- Line Changes: During games, a whistle will be blown to signify line/player changes for all games on the ice. Each shift will be 75 to 90 second long.
Rules
Out of Play: If the puck goes "out of play" a new puck will be introduced.
Penalties:
- Rule infractions will result in a penalty shot instead of a power play.
- Body checking is NOT ALLOWED at any age! The emphasis for cross ice games is on skill and not physicality.
Goaltending: When goalies freeze the puck, the opposing team must back away for play to restart.
Goals: After a goal is scored, the scoring team must retreat from offensive play and allow the opposing team take possession of the puck.

Goalies: $25.00
Program participation must meet a certain requirement. If registration is low, the Rockets will issue a full refund if program is canceled.
