Skills Program

This 4-week program, run by Mike Richards, meets twice a week and is geared for players looking to improve their overall game. It will feature detailed training designed to teach and enhance the fundamentals of players on skills, providing the instruction and expertise needed for Elite Stickhandling, Shooting & Goal Scoring, Explosive Speed, Dynamic Moves and Increased Hockey IQ.

The curriculum for this program will be a mix of high intensity drills as well as drills we use to slow things to down to the ability of each player. Players are shown ways to strengthen their skills and improve their overall game. The main focus for this program is designed to develop the ability and confidence of the player regardless of skill level or age.

Power Skating

This program will focus on all facets of skating from edge work, explosiveness, balance, agility and power through a series of specifically designed drills. Skaters will develop a more explosive and longer stride, learn how to trust their edges, and will be challenged to become better skaters each session. The sessions will be skating intensive, with very little, if any, stick handling or shooting included.

Learn to Play I

The St. Louis Rockets’ Learn-to-Play (LTP) program is a fantastic opportunity for children new to hockey to experience the game and receive great coaching at a fantastic price. Learn to Play is designed for players who have already taken Learn to Skate and/or Little Blues or LTP I.

Learn to Play II: Continue to Play

Do not know what the next step after Learn to Play or Little Blues is? Come join the St. Louis Rockets Continue to Play program. This will consist of 8 half ice games spread over the course of 8 weeks with very little instruction. Each ice time will be 1 hour long. You can still participate even if your skater is not zip-coded to the St. Louis Rockets Hockey Club.

Checking Clinic

Participants will work on edge and body control to learn the basics of giving and receiving body contact. Skaters will also learn the proper way to angle opposing players into areas where body contact is prevalent.
